One of my favorite parts of spring is watching the world come to life again: the plants revive themselves, the birds and squirrels hop around and chirp, and people venture outdoors to ride bicycles and sit in sidewalk cafes. Spring is especially rewarding after a harsh Minnesota winter, and I decided to reward myself for surviving the winter by undertaking some fun spring activities.
In early May, I met with a friend of mine to see the "Art in Bloom" exhibit at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The exhibit features flower arrangements from local artists and flower shops, which are meant to resemble pieces of art throughout the museum. Here is a taste of what I saw:
That same weekend, I met a friend for the annual May Day parade in my neighborhood. The parade is sponsored by a local puppet theater, which means that there are many of interesting floats and costumes in the parade.
