The Museum of Russian Art

Hello, everyone! Long time, no see. The weather has been so unseasonably warm in Minneapolis that I have been spending most of my free time outdoors rather than working on my blog, hence the delay. One of my latest adventures took place at the Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis. There I saw an exhibit on artwork depicting workers and work projects in the Soviet Union. It was excellent.

As much as I wanted to wear my fur hat to the museum, it was far too warm that day.

Sunday Morning at the Lakes

It seems that I have fallen back into my bad habit of not posting regularly. I suppose that part of the problem is that I believe I must have some sort of excitement in my life to justify a blog post.
In any case, although there were a few weeks with very cold temperatures in January and February, this has been a very mild winter by Minnesota standards. The weather has been fantastic the past few days, with sun and temperatures in the 50s and 60s (10 - 15 degrees Celsius). However, March is traditionally a fickle month, so even if it is beautiful now, it could still snow again this month and possibly even in April.
I decided to take advantage of the warm weather this morning and ride my bike up to Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles. I thought that getting out before noon would save me the hassle of dealing with crowds of people, but there were still plenty of people out enjoying the sun this morning. The lakes are great because they have both a path for pedestrians and a completely separate bicycle path. However, as there weren't as many cyclists out this morning, the non-bikers decided to help themselves to the bike path. This meant that I had to dodge things like pedestrians with dogs, joggers, power-walkers, rollerbladers, a man on his skateboard being pulled by two dogs, and most detestable of all: baby carriages! I brought a bicycle bell back over from Germany, but it unfortunately does not fit on my thicker handlebars. I did not let this spoil my fun, however.

Notice the sign in the foreground warning of thin ice. This ice was in fact quite thin as it has been sunny and warm the past few days. There was a brave soul out on the lake with a pair of skis holding onto the sail. It was carrying him all over the place and even up in the air. I had never seen anyone doing this sport before.
